The EPIRB is a next-generation product manufactured in accordance with the latest IMO MSC471 provisions. It integrates AIS, the central device of the global maritime coordination system GMDSS. Through AIS, the position of a shipwrecked person is visible not only to the rescue coordination centre but also to all ships equipped with AIS and any vessel with at least one AIS receiver installed. The positioning system uses GNSS, utilizing both European Galileo and GPS satellites. To send distress messages to COSPAS-SARSAT, it also employs the new MEOSAR satellite constellation, which enables the position of the shipwrecked person to be detected even before the EPIRB signal reaches the coordination centre.
This EPIRB includes all the features that have always distinguished GME EPIRBs:
- High-intensity strobe
- Self-heating electronic components (“Zero Warm-Up”)
- Simple and immediate self-test procedure, allowing verification of proper operation in just a few seconds
Fully compliant with the IMO MSC471 resolution.
